As I highlighted on Friday, your committee is continually monitoring the possible effect of the coronavirus situation and how it could potentially impact on the activities of SSPS.
It is a very fast moving situation, as can be seen from the reports in the media.
The committee is very mindful of the health and wellbeing of all members of SSPS and of the risk factors for the age brackets covered by our membership.
It has been decided that we will cancel our members meeting scheduled for next Tuesday – 17 March.
The committee will meet on that night to discuss the appropriate actions for our coming activities and the monthly competitions. Once we have made a decision, we will advise all members as quickly as possible.
I am aware of a number of clubs who have now cancelled activities for the immediate future, both in Australia and overseas.
VAPS last night decided to cancel their half yearly meeting scheduled for 29 March. In addition, they have cancelled the print section of this year’s VAPS Interclub. The DPI section will continue and will be judged remotely.
The results of the March competition will be available on the website on Wednesday.
