If the idea of playing Mother Nature excites you, youll love this simple technique for transforming an overcast day into a beautiful snow scene with powder-covered vegetation and falling flakes.

Step 1: Open an Overcast Photo

Open an overcast photo with little or no detail in the sky.

Step 2: Add Ground Snow

Choose Select>Color Range... more

Often, youll have a photo where one of the colors just doesnt stand out like it did when you took the photo. One of the benefits of a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer is that you can target specific colors with it, and not the whole photo. Plus, the ability to hide the changes with the layer mask on the adjustment layer can really help create some strong images.
