Standard schlieren imaging techniques use a large mirror to be able to visualize heat or pressure differences in air. The problem with these techniques is that they require large precision telescope mirrors that are very expensive. My lab is fortunate to have a 13-inch diameter telescope mirror; but what happens when I need to photograph a larger subject?
A 13-year-old 7th-grader is Insta-famous today after he snapped a selfie with singer Justin Timberlake on national TV during the Super Bowl halftime show.
Ryan McKenna found himself next to Timberlake during the concert as the singer walked up into the crowd. As Timberlake passed McKenna, he noticed the boy’s phone and posed for a quick selfie:

A drone pilot has sparked outrage and condemnation by posting a video showing his camera drone “dive bombing” a passenger jet landing at a US airport. The drone came dangerously close to the aircraft during the stunt, which can be seen in the clip above.
The video was originally posted to a Facebook group called “1% FPV” by a “James Jayo Older” with the caption: “Found the SD card.. 1%ers only.”
