This is a set of notes on composition, loosely based on ideas of composition from the Victorian era. There’s quite a bit more, and yet quite a bit less, to the Victorian ideas.
First and foremost, almost everyone reading this is a human person. Since the goal of a picture’s composition is to manage, more or less, how human people perceive and feel about a picture, it turns out that you have the power built in to you to figure this stuff out.
