After generating a considerable amount of hype, Chronos has landed on Kickstarter, and the dream of a 21,500fps high-speed camera at a price point of $2,500 is catching on like wildfire. The campaign reached its funding goal of ~$48,000 in about 5 hours after going live.

Instagram took another big step this week in competing more directly with Snapchat. The Facebook-owned company has launched live video and disappearing photos.

The live video feature is found in Instagram Stories, which was released back in August. To use it, swipe right from your feed to open your camera, and tap the “Start... more

OK Go just released this 4-minute music video for their song, “The One Moment.” What’s notable about this project is that most of the 4-minute video is a super-slow-motion shot captured over just 4 seconds of real time.

“The song ‘The One Moment’ is a celebration of (and a prayer for) those moments in life when we are most alive,” says director Damian Kulash, Jr. “For the video, we tried to represent this idea literally we shot it... more

Cameras and smartphones have gotten pretty good at detecting what kind of scene you're trying to photograph and optimizing your settings for the best shot, and they're only getting smarter. But fifteen years ago when we reviewed the Casio QV-4000 such technologies didn't exist.

Instead, you got 'Best Shot Modes,' a collection of exposure modes... more

Technological advances have made it possible to do amazing things like order a pizza from your smart watch, but there's one problem holding much of consumer tech back: battery life. Despite the computing leaps we've made forward, batteries are still a major limitation for pretty much all mobile devices and a lot of photographic equipment. However, a team of scientists at the University of Central Floridas... more

Flash manufacturer Elinchrom has released new firmware for its EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus HS for Olympus so that the device will be able to work with Panasonic Lumix cameras as well as Olympus OM-D models. The transmitter, which is already compatible with all OM-D and Pen models, as well as the E-5 and E-410, will now work with Lumix models as far back as the G7, including the LX100 compact and the FZ1000 bridge camera.
