Nikon has released firmware version 1.01 for its D5300 and D5500 cameras. Both updates add support for the AF-P DX NIKKOR 1855mm F3.55.6G VR and AF-P DX NIKKOR 1855mm F3.55.6G lenses, Nikon's first DX lenses to offer stepping motors, as well as an a5 Manual focus ring in AF mode option for the D5500. Both updates also bring several bug fixes correcting issues affecting each model, such as camera freezing.

In a move intended to honor the giant panda - a Chinese national treasure - German camera manufacturer Leica has produced a limited edition version of its M-P (Typ 240) rangefinder that is finished in black and white.
