Photographic Course
s

Southern Suburbs Photographic Society is offering three photographic
Courses, so everyone can choose to do one, two or even all three depending on their ability and interest.

Level One

This is a beginners Course and is aimed at students who are new to Photography. "Snappers" who wish to improve their skills for family shots, holidays And general "good time" photo's. It is envisaged that this group will have no desire to become serious about their photographic skills and will be perfectly happy with a point and shoot camera. As an aid to uniformity all manipulation of images will be done in a free downloadable software package from Google, called Picasa. Picasa is an excellent storage medium with a very good but simple manipulation facility built into the software. This basic course runs over a five to six week period allowing time for all questions to be answered.

Level Two

Inter-mediate level of photographic skill. This group is a little more advance than beginners, with people owning a more upmarket camera or even a basic DSLR perhaps with a second lens. Image manipulation would be done on the propriety software of the camera itself or Photo-shop Elements or even upgraded CS4 and CS5. This group will be taught the vagaries of exposure, focusing, white balance, Lighting and more. At least one practical outdoor field trip will be included in this course. This course is aimed at a five week period with extra time at the weekend towards the end of the course for one or more outdoor workshops.

Level Three or Master Class

This will be presented by Ian Rolfe, President of SSPS and a very accomplished Landscape Photographer and keen student of creative outdoor photography. This course is all about the passion of Photography… Understanding all aspects of Light, and about feelings and emotions that come with the pure joy of seeing the world through the camera's lens. It covers visualisation, composition, tones and textures. Interacting with the world around us, architecture, trees, our skies, seascapes, landscapes and urban scapes. It covers, poor lighting, night photography, depth of field, refraction, and much more. The use of filters is extensively covered, when and where to use them… and to cap it all off….. One night is devoted to some essential photo-shop techniques at the end of this 7 week course.

Costs

Cost of each course is
$85 for one
$145 for two
$195 for all three

The course cost includes membership of SSPS until the next AGM in March 2011. Existing SSPS members get an additional $15 off each course.
